I've known this stetch of water for a long time: from high-up on the Malahat Drive. But wow, the impression at sea level is quite awesome. Enclosed by precipitous rock and tree strewn cliffs its easy to feel quite humble: yet overcome by the beauty.>
Victoria is the perennial summer city. I lived there for six years way back. It is really beautiful but dead in the winter: which is no draw-back. The place has urbanized in quite a sophisticated style over the years. Still, a city cannot thrive for tourists only and government is, well, the only reality based game in town.
